Today the Education Commission is releasing a summary report on the recent consultation with more than 50 civil society organizations on the International Finance Facility for Education (IFFEd). The consultation provided civil society organizations the opportunity to contribute their ideas and feedback on a variety of topics related to the Facility. This consultation, which took place from April – May 2018, included an online survey, a webinar, in-person meetings, and bilateral conversations about a set of baseline principles guiding the design of the Facility.
The feedback was then used to:
- Update, clarify, and amend the baseline principles for the Facility
- Inform a new, detailed technical design document on the Facility
Some of the issues raised during the consultation included:
- Domestic resource mobilization
- Program eligibility
- Sustainable lending and borrowing
- Complementarity with existing initiatives
- Stopping tax avoidance
- The role of the private sector
- Monitoring and accountability
- Equity, inclusion, and gender
As a result of this consultation, the Commission has prepared:
- A summary report, outlining key issues raised during the consultation and how they have been addressed in the updated principles and technical design document
- A technical design document which outlines the structure and operations of the Facility and addresses issues raised during the consultation
- A revised set of principles, included in the summary report and technical design document, intended to form the basis of the Facility’s design and operations
- A brief note about the Facility, debt sustainability, and responsible lending and borrowing to address these issues in greater detail
The Education Commission is very grateful for all the feedback during the consultation which has improved the principles and the technical design of the Facility. The principles will play a role in both shaping the design of the Facility and also informing operational decisions once established.
As the Facility is further developed in the coming months, the Commission will continue to engage with all stakeholders and identify channels for ongoing cooperation.

Grateful for your Great Work. We hope that the Principles have incorporated provision for Financing of Grassroots & Community driven education initiatives. Destiny Community School in Zambia was started in 2003 providing education to the less privileged Children. So many children have gone through our school. We however, face financing challenges for growth, development & sustainability.
Dear all,
Allow us congratulating you for this best action so useful for the world education. We are UNASCAD (Union des Amis Socio Culturels d’Action en Developpement), civil society organization listed in the databases of UN CSO. We are very interested to join you.
Then thinking about it.
Best reagrars!
