About Us

The Education Commission launched the Education Youth Video Challenge to crowd-source the best ideas for education directly from young people around the world. The challenge invited 13 to 30-year-olds to submit short videos addressing two questions: How can education best prepare you for the future? What would your ideal school of the future look like?

We received nearly 400 videos from over 60 countries from young people across the globe. The Education Commission’s Youth Panel, Beth Garrod, Director of International Social Responsibility at Viacom, and Ahmad Alhendawi, United Nations Secretary-General’s Envoy on Youth, will select the winning videos. The Grand Prize winner will receive an all-expenses paid trip to New York City for the screening of his/her video at the Commission’s report launch at the UN General Assembly in September. Second prize is an iPad mini and third prize is an HP Chromebook. Winners will be announced on September 18, 2016.

Public voting for the People’s Choice Award has closed and two winners, both of whom received more than 5,000 votes, have been announced: Grace Sameve from Indonesia and Gustavo Santana from Brazil— each receiving a GoPro video camera.

Watch all the videos below and come back on September 18th to find out who the challenge winners are!
